Your Big Year is intended to encourage entrepreneurial spirit at a time when small to medium sized businesses are e key to economic recovery. It is also intended to promote global citizenship and social responsibility – qualities which have never been more important
The competition is free to enter and open right now to all adults worldwide. It will culminate in a week-long final for 24 contestants in Liverpool in November 2010, as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. At the end of the week, two winners will be chosen. Their year-long global adventure will begin in January 2011.
Contestants can reach the final 24 by a variety of methods, all designed to test and hone key entrepreneurial skills such as creativity, energy, networking and great communication.

Your Big Year is seeking help in two ways.

UN GLOBAL COMPACT
An initiative stated by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan which aimed to promote responsible business citizenship. The Compact is a network of businesses, both multi-national and SME, along with NGOs who are committed to working within the ten fundamental principles of CSR as outlined by the Compact. These principles focus on four main areas: human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
