Get the most from your Networking

And adopt the following rules:

  • Have your business cards with you at all times
  • Set a reachable goal for the number of people you meet
  • Act like a hostess (not a guest) by actively introducing yourself and others
  • Listen and ask the five "W" questions: who, what, when, where and why
  • Adopt a helpful philosophy to others - give a lead, referral or useful information whenever possible.
  • Describe your product or service in sixty seconds and be memorable.
  • Exchange business cards with the people you meet. Stay focused on your goal and don't try to close a deal.
  • Write comments and date on the backs of business cards you collect.
  • Follow up with the people you meet. If you really want to do business, this is just as important as the meeting itself.
